Printable human heart lesson / unit created to help educate your children on how the human heart actually works.

Why did I create these Human Heart Worksheets?

Our new daughter home 3 months from Latvia was born with an Congenital Heart Defect. Her heart condition went unrepaired for 7 years. Less than two months after we brought her home she became very ill and was admitted to the Children’s Hospital in DC. Shortly after we arrived she had her first code event. Her oxygen levels went down into the 40s and within minutes the entire medical team was surrounding her bed. This was one of the scariest things I have ever experienced. After several minutes her oxygen levels began to rise. This is when we knew she couldn’t wait for her repair any longer!

On January 14th she underwent her first open heart surgery and will need more in the future.

I have learned a lot through this experience. And decided to create this heart unit to help me educate my other children on how the human heart actually works. Through this unit, I was able to explain to my children why their new sister’s heart repair was so important.

What does this unit cover?

After completing the worksheets you and your children will have a better understanding of how our heart functions. I do plan on adding more to this unit in the future. But for now this is a perfect unit that covers the basics of the Human Heart.
