Hi there! Thanks for stopping by. I have been working really hard on putting this history unit together and I am so glad I finally get to share it with you! This is a full Pilgrims Lesson Plan designed for first grade – Fifth Grade. Can easily be used with younger grades as well!
If you missed the first history unit in the series you can find it HERE. Its a complete unit all about Jamestown.
We are studying American History in our homeschool this year. I couldn’t bring myself to pay $200 or more for a curriculum, so I decided to create my own! I will be sharing every unit here, on Bless my Budget, with you.
I will be posting a new history unit every month through April 2019. They will all be free for you to use with your kids!
Why am I giving it away for free?
Well, because I want homeschool to be affordable for you! I want you to have good quality content for your kids. And I need it for mine too!
Alright, let’s get started!
THIS MONTHS FREE AMERICAN HISTORY UNIT
HERES WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS FREE ALL ABOUT THE PILGRIMS UNIT
- This is full lesson plan, you will not need any extra books. If you desire to dig deeper, I have a suggestion of books below.
- This unit is designed for completing history two days a week and will be completed in one month. (If you don’t complete it in a month that’s fine!)
- All of my units are designed with children in mind. I personally watched about 50 videos until I found ones that I felt were suitable for kids.
- The lessons are simple but full of information.
- Your kids will be watching a few short videos, coloring, cutting, gluing and most importantly having fun learning history!
- If you stick around by the end of the school year, your kids will have a notebook/binder full of awesome American History facts!
WHAT DOES THIS UNIT COVER?
This months unit is all about the Pilgrims. Your kids will learn:
- Who were the Pilgrims?
- Where are they from?
- Why did they come to America?
- When did they come to America?
- How did they get to America?
- All about the Mayflower. ( complete project)
- Where did they finally settle down?
- What’s the Mayflower Compact?
- Who were the Native Americans the Pilgrims met?
- The first Thanksgiving.
This unit is complete with lots of information!
WHAT WILL YOU NEED?
If you completed the Jamestown Unit, you may already have these items ready.
- You will need a 1 inch 3 ring binder. If you have multiple kids here is a pack of 4 binders that will work great!
- Scissors
- Elmer’s Disappearing Purple Glue Sticks
- Crayola Crayons or coloring pencils
- Paper for your binder. I am using this paper here in the photos. I like it because its plain, colored and already hole punched!
